Hello and welcome to ThreeChannels.

My Week in Review

It’s been a grand, busy week with a few notable happenings.  We are packing feverishly to go to Alabama to leave Sue with my MIL (for the first time), and then drive to DC (it’s only 12 hours) for H’s conference.  Then we are taking the boys to West Virginia to ski and toboggan!

Scarlet Fever Update: Sue is cured but Joseph succumbed to an allergic reaction that manifested itself with measles-like bumps all over his entire body and face.  Pleasant and itchy.  One bottle of Benadryl later, we have a new $100.00 antibiotic.  I was inspired by Mrs. Bear’s post to calculate the cost of Scarlet Fever.  $50.00 in copays, $84.00 in Amoxicillan, $100.00 in Omnicef and $4.00 in the eggnog that is apparently the only way to wash down the intolerable Omnicef’s “tropical” flavor.  It’s an expensive illness, if you ask me.  Especially considering that we actually make money on stitches!

Let’s Drive 12 Hours to DC: Yes, it does sound fun, doesn’t it?  Tomorrow we will be driving 6 hours to Alabama to drop of Sue, after which we will gather for a Holiday Photo Opportunity for my MIL’s Christmas card.  I’m not sure what quality of holiday photo she is expecting after 6 hours in the car, but I guess we’ll see, won’t we?  I did get everyone’s hair cut to make sure we would be ready for this photographic extravaganza.

Here’s the finished product.  She actually allowed them to blowdry her hair!

Here’s my eight-year-old-going-on-15 with the specific haircut that allows him to “swoosh” his bangs to the side in a cool gesture:

Should be interesting…  The next morn we’ll arise at dawn to begin our trek to DC.

I’ll try to keep you posted!

So excited for you guys
I had to laugh today b/c we had been wondering if you had picked up the ski stuff yet and then my boys decided to act terribly and it ended with me saying something like “get your bu*t over here!”
It was at that point I realized you were probably getting the ski stuff from the front porch and hoped you did not here me – LOL
Hey if you can’t be real with your friends who can you be real with right?! :)
Anyway, I hope that ski attire works for you :)
Be safe
Prayin for you guys
Kim

Holy moly, the price of scarlett fever is through the roof over there. $100 for antibiotics is steep. Hopefully he’ll be feeling better soon. My boys are still blotchy from the Fifth’s but hopefully by Monday it will be a little better camouflaged. Have a fantastic trip. Stay safe. We haven’t taken a long car ride since we drove up to Tennessee in the Spring…16 hours in a car with four kids…I’m still recovering from that. 😉

I’m going to do myself a favor and NOT calculate the cost of having a child with Asthma and allergies (and reflux and oh the other goodies he’s been blessed with).

*sigh*

Have a FUN trip (if you can with driving so much).

Love the haircuts! Yeah, you gotta be able to “swoosh” the bangs… all the kids are doing it nowadays 😉

Wow, those are some expensive antibiotics. Not fun!

Sounds like a lot of driving! Have fun in the snow :)

I love the haircut pictures…they look so cute. Good luck on the car trip and the Christmas Card pics. Don’t they have generic antibiotics?? because that’s super expensive! Glad he’s doing better. Thanks for the award. My goal is to get to it and some others this week. We really appreciate it!:)

Ouch. Scarlett Fever is a whole lotta cash. I never thought to add up the expenses of an ailment. I think I would drive myself crazy if I did that, heheh.

Good luck on the trip!

Amazing how illnesses can be quite expensive!!! I love the kids’ new haircuts…isn’t it funny how kids so young can have such strong opinions on what hairstyle they want?!

Wishing you a fun and safe trip!!

Wow, that’s like, a million things going on at once! You’re probably well on your way to, wherever, I can’t remember right now all the places you’re going. That is quite the trip though. If I spent that many hours in the car with hubby we’d probably be on the news! We don’t do car trips very well. Have a great time!

You know…it didn’t even phase me the price of your antibiotics…didn’t register that they were expensive. But wow, $100 antibiotic IS expensive!

For that amount, you must have consumed an enitre river of Amoxicillin.

The haircuts are precious.
