Hello and welcome to ThreeChannels.

Library Angst: It’s All About Me

Andrea at Crazy Jugs tagged me!  She’s a fascinating and extremely real blogger, so if you haven’t checked her out, please do so!

Three’s About Me!

Three Names I Have Been Called…
1. Forsh
2. You know, that girl with the long hair whose children used to go to **** and how she’s homeschooling…or something…
3. That Book Lady

Three Jobs I Have Had In My Life…
1. College English Teacher
2. Biscuit Maker at Mrs. Winner’s Chicken and Biscuits
3. Crystal Seller

Three Places I Have Lived…
1. Nashville
2. Atlanta
3. Birmingham

Three Hobbies…
1. Hunting for rare books
2. Bargain hunting at garage sales and thrift stores
3. Beth Moore Bible Studies

Three things most people do not know about me…
1.  I have a wretched temper when faced with unfairness.  For example, today I received a letter from my local library claiming I owed then $55.00 because I checked out a book that was “not allowed to be checked out by the library.”  I mean, they checked it out to me!  Now they are sending me rude, threatening letters.  I called today and they said my only recourse is to meet with this one woman tomorrow morning at 9 am.  With my children in tow.  I am so, so blooming angry!

Part B: My inlaws read my blog.  And I’m OK with that : )

2.  I had my last baby when I was 38, and it was by far the easiest pregnancy!

3.  I am obsessed with flossing my children’s (and my own) teeth.  I floss at least three times per day, and I truly thrill to flossing their teeth too.  Perhaps I should have been a dental hygienist?  Here’s a picture of me in deep flossing concentration:  (I like using those flossy sticks.)

Three TV Shows That I Watch…
1. House Hunters International
2. The Property Shop – that woman has issues but that’s another post for another time!
3. Sell This House!

Three places I Have Been…
1. Jackson Hole, Wyoming
2. Vienna, Austria
3.  Kauai, HI

Three places I want to go…
1. China
2. Japan
3. Israel

That’s three about me, now three’s about you too?

I’m randomly tagging the last nine people who commented on my blog.  If you have already done this self-absorbed meme, just move on!  And if you don’t want to write about these things, please don’t and I’ll never know because I can’t keep up with anything anyway!

Thanks for tagging me… I was wondering what to write about next! Why not more about me?!

I get pretty mad about unfairness too… $55… that’s crazy! I hope you can successfully make your case tomorrow. I tend to be all big talk (“I’m going to write a letter to the paper and write a letter to this restaurant”) and then end up doing nothing.

Um, you look pretty good for having just had a baby in that picture… jealous!

I will get right on this tomorrow! : )

Love the flossing picture! I use those flossing pick thing-a-ma-jigs, but I don’t do it three times a day! : )

You’re gorgeous!

I agree with She. You are gorgeous.

I was 35 when I had my youngest. My OB’s office referred to me as “AMA.” Which I hadn’t heard when I was PG with my older son. One day I asked what it meant and discovered it’s the worst acronym in the world: “advanced maternal age.” Which as you can well imagine inspired MY wretched temper. So we’ve got those two things in common…

What a fun post! My favorite Beth Moore study is ‘Living Beyond Yourself’. I can listen to her teach all day.

Sorry about your library fine. Libraries hate me…I’m always late.

Your floss obsession is my ear wax obsession. I pull out the Q-tips and my kids hide under the beds.

My in-laws read my blog too. That’s why you won’t find me talking about PMS or complaining about my dear husband over there (much!)

My last baby was at 37. What a ridiculous contrast in how they “counsel” you at 34 vs. at 36! Harrumph.

Oh, and I’m a librarian myself. But I try to be a fair one… and the fine & scary letters sound way beyond the pale. (I mean, you returned the book & all, right?) Hope your meeting/crazed confrontation went well.

Great post! I like these memes where you learn new things about the blogger!!

I’ve been to Kauai (or however you spell it) too and it was like Heaven on earth!! And what’s up with the library saying you checked out a book that wasn’t supposed to be checked out? Isn’t that what the library is for…to borrow books??

For my dear friends who are outraged by the library fiasco, I have great news! My knight in shining armor went down to the library personally today with the book in hand and met with the Circulation Librarian who admitted that whoever checked the book out to us would have had to manually override the system to do so. She declared it a “library travesty,”erased the fines and apologized. I feel so much better!

Yay on winning the library wars! I would’ve been bent out of shape too, especially considering it was the library’s fault to begin with. And that photo with the baby, maybe it’s the softness or the whiteness but you look absolutely ethereal. Jeez, you’re even adorable when you’re flossing. Stop it! I’ll take the tag, I got nothing good going on. 😉

Thanks for stopping by my blog and your sweet words.
I’ve been blessed with wonderful children. Thank you for the compliment.

I’m glad you found me again. I love meeting new people.
I loved reading your list. I have discovered something, I too fight against “injustice”…. so I understand the fighting against unfairness.

I read your profile and would tell you that I too am learning to live in this “Larger Story of God”… I wonder, did you read some of Eldredge’s books?

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you’ll come again for a visit!

lol, a “library travesty”. Nice. That would make a great band name…

And, um, could you look any MORE gorgeous for someone who just gave birth? Geez. You’re giving the rest of us a complex.

Thanks for the tag. I will try to remember to get to it, but my memory has been seriously suffering lately….

I didn’t know you were a college English teacher before. Me too!! Someday we will have to talk books!

That library situation is ridiculous. I hope you get it straightened out.
